Overview

According to Go to ICD-10ICD-10, Cyclothymia is an affective (mood) disorder characterized by alternating and recurring periods of depression, elation, and normal moods similar to manic depressive disorder [bipolar] but of a less severe nature. This is a chronic disturbance of mood that lasts 2 years or longer.

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)

According to the Low Dose Naltrexone home page [LDN], LDN has been seen to benefit depression and bipolar, so it is reasonable to consider LDN for cyclothymia as well. Dr. Weyrich has been trained to use Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). However, Dr. Weyrich has not treated any cases of cyclothymia with LDN.

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback has proven useful for treating depression and mania [and thus cyclothymia]. Dr. Weyrich has been certified in neurofeedback since 2008, and more recently completed an additional residency training program at ADD Clinic of Scottsdale, AZ. While at the ADD clinic, he treated numerous cases of depression.

Neurotransmitter Balancing

Neuro Research [Hinz2015] reports that depression and mania [and thus cyclothymia] can be benefited by balancing neurotransmitter levels in the body.

Dr. Weyrich has been trained in neurotransmitter balancing protocols, but has not treated cyclothymia, depression, or mania using this technique.
